[This is the third of four articles in the February 1952 edition of the trade magazine Fashions & Fabrics.] [To conserve disk space I have separated the text from the illustrations.]The smooth unbroken line THE LONG BRA PLUS THE HIGH-WAISTED CORSET CAN GIVE CORSELETTE RESULTS
The high Empire bustline and the smooth unbroken Princess line accentuate the need for firm uplift, strong diaphragm control, a moulded waistline and hipline. The ideal foundation garment for this control would appear to be the one-piece or corselette, but these are sometimes difficult to fit satisfactorily, since the range of sizes and fittings necessary in a really comprehensive corselette stock are not always practicable for a small department or shop. Many figures will benefit from the double control of a long brassiere combined with a high-waisted corset
Above : Lace-trimmed nylon corselette with nylon leno insets, and adjustable shoulder straps, giving firm uplift and a smooth torso line. In 32 in. to 38 in. bust sizes, by Lily of France Left : Long brassiere in lace trimmed nylon, in 34 in. to 44 in. bust sizes and B and C cups, is combined with a high-waisted corset which extends about 2 in. over the bra. Sizes 25 in. to 32 in. waist with nylon leno insets, by Lily of France |
